Christmas Shopping and Bein' Silly

How have y'all been? We've been sick here at the Hawk household. One by one, we each came down with the 'dreaded virus'. It started with Bailey, then it was my turn, then Caitie's, now it's their daddy's turn. We're hoping he'll be over it, or at least feeling better, by Christmas. There's never a good time to get sick, but this week was one of the worst times for Caitie to be sick due to having a big Social Studies project that was due. She and her daddy worked really hard on an Egyptian pyramid artifact to be put on display at school this last Wednesday. Caitie had to also write an essay for it, and a note card with bullet points for her speech when presenting it. Well, she came down with the virus on Monday, the day the project was due. She missed school on Monday and Tuesday. I made sure to send pics of the project to her teacher to prove the project was done on time. She was able to go back to school on Wednesday in time for the presentation. She got an A on the project. Yay for Caitie (and her daddy for helping make the artifact), they did a great job! I took pics and plan to share them here someday. Like you really believe that one, right? No, really, I do plan to put them on the blog, it might be the year 2024 though. Something to look forward to, right? Anyhoo, moving on to the Christmas shopping and bein' silly post...

We were on a Walmart and Target run a while back and I just happened to snap a few pics with my smartphone and decided to post theme here.

Caitie posing with a few sloths and a horse on a Christmas aisle at Walmart.

Bailey posing like a reindeer in the Christmas area at Walmart. See her antlers? They kinda blend with the background.

It's the return of the "Two Old Ladies at Walmart". See a short video clip below.

Checking out the "North Pole Express" mailbox... remembering they never sent wish lists to the North Pole. Ah well, there's always next year.

We also shopped at Target. This is the big red ball outside of the Target store; the girls were excited to sit on Rudolph's huge nose.

Bailey took the wheel after we stopped at Little Caesar's to pick up a pizza...

while Caitie played a video game on her tablet.

We were so hungry I didn't get a chance to get a pic of the whole pizza; once the pizza hit the counter, six hands were inside it to grab a piece of pizza... I then grabbed one right before snapping this pic... pizza in mouth, and greasy hands on camera. Yum...

Later on the girls made a hamster video, which you can watch below.

Here is the star of that video... Sandy.

And even later that night, we watched the "Christmas With the Kranks" movie. It's one of our favorite Christmas movies.

Here is "The Two Old Ladies Christmas Shopping at Walmart" video (remember the first "Two Old Ladies at Walmart" video last summer? they are back). It's not very long, we had to cut it short since a shopper decided to come down the aisle while we were videoing. Here is the short video clip. Just click on the ol' 'play' button below to watch the video.

Here is the Hamster Video I mentioned above. It's a silly video... not easy to tell what Caitie is saying... we're cracking up... none of it really makes sense kind of video... the usual. Please excuse the messy floor... I have no excuse for it, just please excuse it... or somethin' like that. Click the ol' 'play' button below to view the silly video.

Typical School Night

A typical school night consists of lots of homework for Caitie. Here she is doing her homework with the newest addition to our family; she's such a sweet kitten. More about her in an upcoming post.

I took this pic with my smart phone.

We Love You, Red White and Blue

We love Home Depot and we love the Cinnabon Iced Coffee at Jack in the Box, but we really love you, Red White and Blue ... our Country's beloved ... the American Flag.  Happy 4th, Everyone!  :)

Here are some pics I took with my smart phone of the girls holding flags we got them at Home Depot and their new favorite drink... Cinnabon Iced coffee from Jack in the Box.  I also included a couple of pics I took while watching fireworks.  See if you can make it through all the pics and a quick video towards the end...

Holding their Flags and Cinnabon Iced Coffees at Home Depot...

In the garden area of Home Depot... (terrible white balance choice)

The girls fell in love with this 'She Shed' at Home Depot... (outside)

(Inside)... It only cost around $2,500.  ha

A huge PVC pipe needed for pool stuff... (in our suv)

Pics taken in our backyard.  Interesting sun rays in this pic...

Happy Summer 2017!

It's not officially summer yet, the actual season doesn't start until next week, but for us summer starts when school is out and the pool goes up. We got a new pool this year; the other one lasted a few years, a year or two longer than we thought it would, but it was time for a new one this year. I thought I would miss the outside being blue, but I like the dark gray of our new pool. The inside looks the same as our old pool, which I like. We (i say this loosely, michael did most of the work) put the pool up the weekend after we got back from California, but didn't get it actually filled all the way and up and running until last evening. Here are two short videos of the girls in the pool once it was up and running...

Referring to the first video... In case you're wondering... "bug bites" (i say this in the video) is what Bailey called her 'chest area' way back when she was just starting to talk, we've called 'them' that ever since. She used to think they looked like bug bites. Too much information, maybe? ha :)

The girls love jumping from the ladder into the pool. They aren't allowed to dive from the ladder, the pool manufacturer doesn't recommend it. An inground pool with a diving board would be nice, but our backyard isn't big enough for one and still have space for anything else. I wouldn't want the backyard to be all concrete and pool, I like some grass for play, barbecues, and other things.

Mrs. Ken Doll

Bailey married her Ken doll last night. She is now known as Bailey Doll, not to be mixed up with Barbie Doll. Anyhoo...  If you decide to get them anything, they're registered at Toys R Us. Here are some pics... Bailey took most of them with her tablet...

It all started earlier last evening...

Here is Ken... isn't he dashing? He was on his way to meet up with Bailey... so she says.

Here they are together in the hall... holding hands.

Bailey took another selfie with Ken. They were photobombed by Caitie.

A thought came to her... love equals marriage. She decided to marry Ken.

So she got all 'dolled up' (couldn't resist); Ken was already dressed for a wedding, he's the wedding Ken doll after all. Caitie made Bailey's hair bow. She was a good maid of honor.

Caitie also made them this "Just Married" sign. Bailey had flowers picked in our backyard as well for her wedding bouquet, but no one thought to get a pic with Bailey's tablet. Caitie put the bouquet together, and it was actually really pretty... tied with dark green yarn, etc. She thinks of everything.

Here is part of the wedding party at the wedding reception. There were mug cakes, dancing, confetti, etc.

Got a quick pic of the ring bearer... Simon. Caitie made his bow tie. So handsome.

Here is the happy couple relaxing and planning their honeymoon. Caitie made Bailey's wedding ring as well (the yellow button with yarn on her finger). She's good at crafts. She even made Ken a ring; it was permanent gold marker on tape. Gotta love what kids come up with. :)

Bailey had so much fun that she wants to get married again; she's eyeing Ken's guy doll friend Steven. I explained to her that you should stay with your one true love, and with that, she laughed. We have our hands full in about seven years... oh boy. The dating years should prove to be interesting.

I mentioned 'mug cake' above. We found an easy recipe on YouTube, and you can find it on Pinterest as well. You can make single serve cakes by mixing regular cake mix and angel food cake mix together and put in a container or large Ziploc bag. Put 3 tablespoons of cake mix and 2 tablespoons of water and mix together in an average size, or larger microwave safe mug. Once mixed, put it in the microwave for one minute. I put it on high. Once it's done, you can put frosting, cool whip, fruit, chocolate chips, whatever you like on top. You can also add chocolate chips to the mixture before heating in the microwave. I put chocolate frosting on top of the cake mixture, along with some cool whip and chocolate chips. I forgot to add strawberries; that would have been pretty. The pic below isn't the best, but it shows what it looks like when it's done. It's actually pretty good. It's on the gooey side, which I like. Give it a try! :)

A girl and her cats

Caitie took a few pics on her tablet of herself with our cats...

Here she is with Simon, our newest addition to the family. He brought lovely ringworm with him; we're still trying to get rid of it. We got Simon, and his ringworm (ha), last September (2016). He was a kitten. He's gotten quite a bit bigger since then. He loves to eat! We've forgiven him for the ringworm. :)

Here's Caitie with Polly. We got Polly a couple of years ago around Caitie's 10th birthday. Polly knows who she belongs to, she goes everywhere Caitie goes.

Here she is with Sassy. Sassy was my dad's cat. We've had her about 7.5 years. She's getting old, but she still acts like a kitten.

Sassy's giving Caitie a kiss on the cheek. So sweet.

Bailey the Videographer

It's been a while since I put a blog post up, and when I saw this video on Bailey's tablet, I decided to post it here since I think it's cute, and I would finally have a new blog post up.

Bailey has been making a lot of videos lately... funny ones with our cats, and with Caitie, and then this one. It looks like she went in her bathroom, closed the door, and made this video.

Click on the 'play' button below to view the short video. You may have to turn the volume up to hear it.

Here is another video she made. There is now a 'recording in progress' sign on the bathroom door handle.  I guess the bathroom has now become her 'recording studio'. ha  :)  I think this video is cute like the one above, and special too. :)

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there... and a special 'shout out' to my wonderful mom as well.  Love you!  :)

I'm hoping to get more blog posts up soon. I keep saying that, don't I? ha
