Caitie brought home her second semester report card a couple of weeks ago. It's the same as
her last report card, with the exception of going up to a 4 in one area of math
(4 = Exceeds - Independently performs above grade level). I hope she keeps up the good work. :)
She did another book report, it was a winter theme this time. She did it on the book she got from a classmate at her class Christmas party. It's called 'Snow Party'. It's a cute book. The visual was a snowman made with paper plates. I helped her as usual, but she did more of it this time than she usually does. We followed directions which is why I was surprised she didn't get 100 like she did on her other book reports; she got a 97. Caitie put the beginning, middle, and end of the book along with illustrations below the descriptions on the back of her snowman visual. She did hers in pencil; I said it was okay to do so since the instructions didn't say to do that part in color. This is where points were taken off by her teacher. I sent her teacher an e-mail explaining how I like for Caitie to follow the instructions given, and nowhere on the instructions did it say to do that part in color, so the teacher added back the points, so she ended up with 100. I wasn't sure I should have said anything about just a few points, but I'm glad I did since Caitie did follow instructions, and her teacher did agree.
Caitie's class had their 100 day celebration in January. Her teacher said the children could bring in a craft showing 100 of something, or they could wear 100 of something, like 100 bracelets, etc., so I thought putting buttons on a scarf would be cute. I bought a top and scarf combo at Walmart for a few bucks and got some buttons in their fabric department and glued the buttons onto the scarf. I thought it came out really cute. Here is Caitie with a couple of things she got at the 100th celebration and her top and 100-button scarf.

Caitie made a picture of herself at 100 years old at the celebration; she brought it home this week. (she put cotton for the hair, used pink pipe cleaner for the glasses, she put googly eyes, and drew the nose and mouth.)
This isn't school related, but thought it was worth mentioning, especially after the traumatizing experience she had when we
tried to change her 'starter studs' last fall. I was finally able to change her earrings this past Sunday. Michael and I got her some cross earrings for Christmas and she's been wanting to wear them since she got them. I was nervous about trying to change her earrings again, that's why I kept putting it off, but I finally decided to go ahead and give it a try on Sunday. I wanted to do it on an evening before a normal work day in case it didn't work and had to take her to the doctor again. Her starter studs came out easily, but putting in the cross earrings was a bit stressful. I'm not sure why, but the holes in her ears aren't lining up as they should, so I had to pull her earlobes and poke around to get the earrings through. I am now nervous about changing them to another pair. It may be a few months before we change them again. ha Caitie loves the earrings... she says they're sparkly and beautiful, but the main reason she loves them so much is because they stand for Jesus. She said she wants to wear them often, but especially at Christmas and Easter. :)
