Brand Spankin' New Bedroom Furniture

Take a look at our new bedroom furniture...

We got the furniture at Thomasville; the one located at Arrowhead.



"Follow me, I'll show you something neat to jump on, places to stuff animals in, and some really neat things that light up... it's amazing! But first let's take a look at how it all came about..."



The Thomasville truck has arrived... Yippee!

These guys worked hard! They not only brought the new furniture upstairs to the master bedroom, they also took what was in the room that had to be moved to make room for the new furniture, down to the garage for us. We did give them a little extra money for doing that.

The new dresser will be going in the 'niche' the entertainment center and TV are in.



Here are the guys putting the drawers in the dresser while Michael vaccums the floor, which hasn't been vacuumed since we moved in due to the entertainment center being there all that time. I, of course, am behind the camera, which was my job for the day, so I got out of the vacuuming. ha



I had to hold Caitie while the vacuum cleaner was going; she still has a dislike to the loud noise the vacuum cleaner makes. As you can see, I kept taking pics. This was a tricky one; I wanted Caitie in the pic, plus get what was going on in the background, which isn't as easy as it sounds if you're looking to get a level and focused pic, which I was. I didn't get much of what was going on in the background, but I did get a cute pic of Caitie, don't you think? That always makes for a good pic.



Like the new dresser?



Here is the new headboard, the bottom part of the armoire, and one of the two night stands. You can see a part of the other night stand there on the left.



All done! Ain't it purty? Don't ask me what Caitie is doin'... I think she was bouncing on the mattress and decided to start belly floppin', or somethin'. Maybe she was doing the 'got new furniture, and I'm so excited' dance.

Here is what the inside of the armoire looks like. We're using it to put bedding in, and clothes, etc. You can put a TV in the top portion of the armoire, but there's no need for that, our TV will be going on top of the dresser.

Here's another pic of the room; this was a few nights after the furniture was delivered. This is after we got back from Fry's grocery store with some new lamps. Yes, we got lamps at a grocery store. I'm so glad we found these, I think they go really well with the furniture. As you can see, I hadn't put the new bedding on yet, it was still airing out. If you've been to Bed, Bath and Beyond, you know how strong that store smells; there are lots, and I mean LOTS of scented candles, and other things that have a strong smell, a pleasant smell, but way too strong, in my opinion, so I had to air some of the stuff out before placing them on the bed. The comforter and pillow shams can only be dry cleaned, so I just aired them out, the sheets and pillow cases I washed before putting them on the bed. This is why you see only sheets and pillows on the bed. It was a couple of days before the comforter and fancy pillows were added.

I love this lamp. I'm so excited to have a lamp next to my side of the bed. I've been wanting this for a long, long, very long time. I love to read in bed, and it's so nice to have a lamp to read by instead of using the ceiling fan light, which would disturb Michael and Caitie at night at times, so I didn't get to read much. I also like how the lamps give the room a nice, soft look and feel to the room. Ahhhhhh... :)



Here is the new bedding; we got it on sale at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

I took these pics a few days later, after the comforter, etc., had aired out. Caitie likes the new look, and so do I.



I still have the tags on the new furniture. ha I love that 'new' feel.



I decided it was time to take the tags off, and then took another pic. As I'm sure you can see in the pic above, and the pic below, there's a wire going across the floor... Michael said he would work on getting it moved, but we'll have to live with it for a while; it's been there a long time, but it really stands out now since we have new furniture and the room looks nicer.

The dresser and two night stands have marble tops; here's what the marble tops look like. I'm glad we went with the marble instead of a wood surface, it gives the room a more elegant and classy look, in my opinion.

On the same day we got the new furniture, our old toaster went out. We got a new toaster at Lowe's last summer, but wasn't planning on putting it out until we change our appliances to stainless steel, but since our beloved white toaster went up in flames... which it actually almost did... we had to get the new one out. This isn't as dramatic of a change as the master bedroom, but I thought it was worth mentioning. ha We had that white toaster since we were first married... it had served its purpose, and did it well, most of the time. I'm keeping it. Michael thinks I'm crazy, but hey, a woman should be sentimental about such things, right? RIGHT?!?

Back in the saddle again

You know the ol' adage, "if you fall off a horse, get up, dust yourself off, and get right back on", or somethin' like that. Well, we got right back up on that horse... so to speak... I didn't want to stop taking Caitie to playgrounds with the worry of what might happen, so I took her back to the same park she had the mishap at on March 11. She didn't fall this time, thank goodness, but it wasn't the most pleasant park visit we've been on. When we first arrived, there was one other child there. As we were walking from the truck to the playground, the little girl ran up to Caitie and gave her a big hug. That was nice. But things went downhill from there. After swinging for a bit and sliding, more kids showed up; a little girl and her brother. The sister and brother weren't real friendly and only seemed to want to play with each other on their own. That was fine, but what got to me was when there was a problem with the little girl that was there with her dad, and the little boy. I was watching Caitie and the kids while talking to the little girl's dad, but didn't know exactly what was happening until I heard the dad's daughter becoming aggressive and loud, and saw the boy with his arms out blocking anyone from going on the landing. Caitie was in between the two on the stairs, and as the other little girl became more aggressive and pressed into Caitie with her chest in order to get her past the boy, Caitie became upset and pushed the girl's arm up and went down the stairs and ran over to me saying she wanted to go home. I asked if she was all right, and she just kept saying she wanted to go home, and pointed at the two kids and said they were mean. After I talked to her for a bit and got her to calm down, she decided to go and play again. The dad I was talking to said that Caitie handled the situation really well; in a very mature way for her age. That was nice to hear. Caitie felt a little left out this time due to all the kids having tricycles; when they were riding their tricycles, she was on her own. But it wasn't too long before another child showed up and wanted to play with her, but all she wanted to do was sling sand everywhere, which ended up getting in Caitie's eyes, so Caitie walked away, but did so in a nice way. We left not too long after that. I hope our next park visit goes more smoothly and is more fun for Caitie. I did take a few pics...

More swingin' pics. Caitie loves to swing.





Here is the brother and sister, and the other girl that were at the park; Caitie is on the landing. The boy and the girl in the purple sweatshirt are the ones that got into it on the stairs and upset Caitie. As you can see, all three kids had trikes, which made Caitie feel left out.



This is the little girl that ran up to Caitie and gave her a hug when we first arrived at the park. I talked with her dad while at the park; he's a nice Christian man.

They played together for a while, but the other girl, her name is Makayla, kept following the other girl and her brother around. The other girl was older and kept Makayla's interest. They had snack food, which was appealing to her as well, I think. Her dad didn't like that too much though, and asked her not to eat any food they offered, but she didn't listen. I can understand his concern, you can never be too careful these days. I wouldn't want Caitie taking food from strangers either, from kids or grown-ups.

Here is the other little girl that showed up not too long before we left the playground. She kept grabbing Caitie's hand to coax her into playing in the sand with her, but as I mentioned above, she kept slinging the sand upward which got into Caitie's eyes, so they didn't end up playing long; we left not too long after she arrived.

Who goes to the zoo to see animals?

We went to the zoo the Saturday before last(March 14). We didn't see any animals though, unless you include the train ride that takes you around the zoo to see some of the animals, which we still didn't see many animals, most of them are smart and hide. ha Caitie is more interested in playing with all the new things they have at the zoo now. There's a cave with two slides and a log house with a slide. She played on another slide that's near the water fountains. Slides are popular at the zoo. She played in the water fountains I just mentioned, and she also went on the carousel, she loves ridin' that thing. It was a fun day.

Michael's putting sunscreen on during snack time at the zoo. We always get a snack when we first arrive at the zoo; this gives us the energy we need to get through the day.



Here is one of the few animals we did see. I always have to get a pic of a giraffe. I love 'em.

Here is the cave slide. She's climbing the stairs which takes you to the slide. Michael and I went down it once when we first got there, and went down the returning slide as well, of which I slipped and fell on my huge rear... ouch!

The cave was packed with kids. Some of them were rude and didn't have much discipline from their parents. It was frustrating for the parents that had well-behaved kids, like our Caitie.

Here she is playing in the water fountains.

This slide is near the water fountains. She likes going down on her belly.

'Getting off the throne'. Does that sound like a good title for this pic?(lame, i know) Love the sun rays streaming across her. This was taken in the swimsuit changing area. Caitie wanted to check it out. Kids can change into swimsuits to run through the water fountains. We didn't bring her swimsuit, but we did take her shoes and socks off.

Here she is on the carousel; her favorite thing to do at the zoo... well, it used to be, I think the cave and log house may be her favorites now.

Here is the log house. It's pretty cool, actually.

This is the log house slide. Caitie went down it several times; the last time she went down it, she went on her stomach. We realized afterwards that the girl that went down the slide before her had pee coming through her diaper, which meant it probably got on the slide. Yuck! We don't know if any of it got on Caitie or not.



We're still at the zoo, not a construction site. This was something else for the kids to play in/on.

We always browse, and end up buying something, at the gift shop before leaving. We got a pretty zoo magnet this time.

Rollin' and Dancin'

Here are two short video clips for you to view. I took them with my Flip Video Recorder, which as you know from the video you viewed four posts ago and the video you viewed from this morning's post, doesn't have the best quality, but I figure it's better than nothing. These were taken a week ago or so, but I'm just now getting around to putting them on the blog.

In the pic below Caitie is playin' with her spotted cat, as she likes to call it, and her dinosaur. Not too long after I took this pic I asked her to do rollovers, which are actually somersaults. She saw them being done on a 'Little Bill' episode(a Noggin cartoon), and decided she wanted to do them. With a little 'coaching' from me, she was on her way. She does pretty good considering she hasn't been doing them for very long.

Here's Caitie right before takin' her shoes off and doing what we call the Noggin Dance.



Caitie sometimes dances to music shorts that are shown in between cartoons on the Noggin station. I got her on the Flip Video Recorder 'dancing' to the song "Lovely, Love My Family". I like that song; nice lyrics and good rhythm. She's goofin' off mostly, but it's fun to watch.
