Celebrating via Movies

We didn't travel for Father's Day or my birthday this year. We usually go somewhere on those days, but chose to take it easy this year. Here are some pics from both days...

First, Father's Day.

Caitie and I made her daddy breakfast. As you see in the pics below, we made two heart-shaped fried eggs that had grated cheddar cheese and salsa in between them, and also put salsa on the top to make a smiley face, we then put a scattering of extra grated cheese around the hearts. We didn't have all the makings for pancakes, so the egg dish had to do.

Caitie and I made her daddy a cottonball guy and an old-fashioned TV card for him; I found these crafts at a site online. I then got Michael Blue Tooth headphones he was wanting (he knew about these), and I also got him a book about the Android Phone that he's been wanting; this he didn't know about. I wanted to surprise him with something. I also ordered a card from Hallmark with his and Caitie's pic on the front, with one inside and on the back as well. We then gave him a card from each of us.

Here is a close-up of the little cottonball guy. On the paper stuck to his side it says, " #1 Daddy", which Caitie wrote.

I, of course, had to stick to tradition and put a caricature of them on white t-shirts. They each say something a little different, but the pic is the same.

Here is the movie we went to see that night. We wanted to stick to a kid-oriented movie, and Caitie chose this one. She loved the movie, as did Michael. I thought it was OK.

We then celebrated my birthday a few days later, on that Wednesday. Michael got me some nice things, such as the water fountain. This is more to save money on our water bill than as a gift for me. I like the sound of running water, so when I get ready for bed at night, I let the sink water run, whether I need it on or not. He's hoping the water fountain will keep this from happening. We shall see. He also got me a new Flip Recorder, this one is in HD. It's really nice. I have some videos to put on the blog, I'll do that soon. He also got me jewelry from Kohl's; so pretty. And he also got me a card and some pretty flowers. Caitie gave me one of her favorite cats and a pillow to help support my back in the chair. She also made me a pretty sign. So sweet. :)

Here's a close-up of my pretty flowers.

Caitie and I posing for a quick pic; it was done via self-timer on my Canon 40D.

We went to see another kid-oriented movie that night, this time it was Shrek. We all liked it, but it's not as good as the other three, in my opinion. It was a nice birthday. :)

Caitie's Cell Phone Drawing & Summertime

While we were at an appointment today, Caitie was playing with her Daddy's new cell phone, which is the Verizon Droid Incredible phone; he downloaded a drawing program for her, and this is what she drew...

It's a beautiful flower and a bee, which is going after the pollen. Smart and talented gal. I think it's neat how I'm able to display it on here; Michael saved it once she was done with it and sent it to my e-mail.

This is my 'first day of summer post', so decided the above and below pics would be good to use in this post. Below is one of the ways Caitie tries to stay cool on a hot summer's day, even while staying in her undies.

Giraffe and me...

are so summery...

It's not officially summer yet, but boy is it hot! So we found
a fun and colorful way for Caitie to stay cool in the evening summer heat...

This kiddie pool is for toddlers, but we got it anyway since Caitie loves giraffes; it's mostly to help keep her cool while outside in the evenings. She loves to splash around in it. She tried the slide out, but for her it's just a fun way to enter the pool; she doesn't slide, she just sits on the slide and then jumps in. These pics aren't of the best quality; they were taken in the early evening, which isn't the best time of day to take pics due to poor lighting.

She loves the giraffe.

As you can see here, she played in it for quite a while; it was dark before we headed in for the night. I wouldn't have gotten this pic if it hadn't been for Caitie reminding me that I can use the flash on my camera to get a pic in a dark setting; smart gal. I don't like to use flash, but found it appropriate to do so this time.

I didn't think to get Caitie on my Flip Recorder until it had already gotten dark, but with the help of a video camera spotlight, I was able to get this short video clip. It's of Caitie bathing her giraffe and then doin' some splashin'... I call it the 'Giraffe Bath & Splash' video. At the end of the video, you'll see her stop and then just stand there... this was due to her getting carried away while splashing water out of the pool... she got a little too close to all the camera equipment, of which she became quickly aware upon hearing a gasp and then a "what the hey" comment coming soon after. She then continued to splash without a care... silly gal. Click on 'play' button to view the short video clip.

Pick of Pics

Here are some pics I took of Caitie recently; I decided to group them and then show my favorite from each group. It's time to change things up a bit, don't you think? Or maybe not.

Caitie eating a bowl of Apple & Cinnamon Cheerios for breakfast. I love her hair and her long eyelashes in these pics.

Here is my favorite from the group. They're all pretty much alike, but I like this one best, I think because of her facial expression.

Caitie modeling one of her latest dresses we got on sale at Kohl's. We got her a brown one just like it.

This is my favorite from the group; I like how her blue eyes show up in this pic.

Here is another sneak peek of her 'new' bedroom. I'll show the whole room eventually.

Here is my favorite from the group. I used this pic in my mom's birthday post.

This is a mix of pics. The first pic is of Caitie as a princess; the next pic is her dressed in a baseball shirt (this pic gives you another sneak peek of her 'new' room); the latter pic is of her playing the piano.

This is my favorite from the group; I like her hair and facial expression in this pic.

To Forgive but not Forget

This is one of those times when this is actually a good thing.

It won't be in the record books, but it will be remembered... this is because it shows what real sportsmanship is all about, and it's a good reminder of how things could and should be in everyday life, at least, for me it is.

Just in case you've been living under a rock the last couple of days, you can read about the memorable game here.
