Amazing Grace

I love this version of the song Amazing Grace. I love it done in a cappella; LeAnn Rimes has an amazing voice.

After listening to the song, I got to wondering where the song originated from. I did a search on Google and this is what I found... it was in answer to someone's inquiry on where the lyrics came from and what they mean (i wanted a short answer; you can find out more about it by clicking here, or doing a search on google):

The hymn Amazing Grace was written by the captain of a slave ship John Newton. In the hymn he is referring to his salvation, not the slaves. He lived his life under the burden of guilt that he was complicit in the transport and deaths of thousands of human beings. The Grace that he found Amazing was that as much as God abhored what he was involved in, when he realised what he was doing was wrong, turned from that activity and even tried to end the slave trade, when he asked for forgiveness, even a wretch like he could receive forgiveness and redemption.

2 Corinthians 4:12-16
So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

1 Peter 4:10
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.

2 Peter 3:18
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
