Glittery, Shivery Night

A couple of weekends ago we went to the Glendale Glitter and Glow Block Party; we go every year, it's tradition. It was really cold this year; the girls wore two jackets to keep warm. I thought about taking gloves, but forgot; boy were we wishing we had gloves. I didn't think it would be as crowded this year since it was so cold, but I was wrong, there was quite a crowd; it took a while to find a parking space.

We did all the usual stuff... I got a few pics of the hot air balloons and of the things we did, Michael and Caitie played a couple of games, and we went on a few rides. Here are a few pics...

Here's one of the hot air balloon pics I took...

Here are Michael and Caitie playing one of the games; it was the water/target game. Michael usually wins this game every time he plays it, but he lost on his first try. We were in shock, but we quickly recovered and he tried again and won.

Here's one of the prizes Michael won for Caitie...

He won her another prize at the balloon/dart game. It cost him around $30 to do both games and win Caitie the two small stuffed animals that probably would have cost around $15 at the store. It isn't cheap to play, and it took him a couple of times playing to win the stuffed animals. We also got Caitie some light-up bunny ears. Yes, we're still giving in to the light-up toys. Bailey didn't get anything; she's not really interested yet, she was more interested in her surroundings. This probably saved us $30. ha

Caitie and her daddy went down the giant slide, as usual, but she didn't like it this time, so they only went down it one time. Caitie said it was really scary this time. I hope she's not becoming afraid of heights like me.

I took a pic of Michael and the girls before getting in line to get on the spinning bear ride. We all went on the ride, and as was expected, Caitie wanted her daddy to spin the bear as fast as he could, but I had to ask him to slow it down... I got sooooo nauseous! I had to sit down for a couple of minutes after getting off the ride. I think it was due to my having drank a large hot chocolate not long before we got on the ride. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. (i'd rather it be that than it having to do with getting old and not being able to handle motion anymore. ha)

We then went on the helicopter ride. This was mine and Caitie's ride until this year... this year her daddy and Bailey came along for the ride too. Caitie loved it as usual, but Bailey really loved it and wanted to go again, but we only had so many ride tickets left, so we let the girls go on it alone the second time. They loved it. Bailey wanted to go again. Here are the girls piloting the helicopter. Michael and I were sitting behind them in the helicopter.

I didn't think they would allow all four of us onto one helicopter, I thought we would have to split up and go on two helicopters, but the ride operator said it was okay if we all went on one helicopter. Maybe I didn't look as big as I felt? I had to start a diet recently due to having gained so much weight over the holidays and snacking on all the goodies through the beginning of the new year, so was thinking I wouldn't fit easily in the back of the helicopter, so I was pleasantly surprised when he gave us the okay for one helicopter. ha As you can see in the pic below, even Michael was ablel to squeeze into the back; I thought his height might be a problem, but he did okay.

Here are Caitie and Bailey on the helicopter ride; it was their first solo ride together. It's hard to see Bailey in this pic, she's on the other side of Caitie.

You can see Bailey better in this pic.

We were walking to the SUV when I noticed there was some decent lighting and took this quick pic of Michael and the girls.

I took a quick pic of Caitie doing some window shopping on the way to the SUV. I like her reflection in the window.

Even thought it was really cold out, we enjoyed our experience at the Glendale Glitter and Glow Block Party. :)
