Caitie started school on Monday. It was beautiful out compared to last year. Remember how she cried due to it bein' so hot out on the first day of school last year? I believe it was around 117 degrees that day; this year it was closer to 100, I believe. Quite a difference. The day didn't seem 'strange' to me as it did on the first day of school last year. So it was a nice start for Second Grade.I take a pic of Caitie on the first day of school every year; I always take one at the front door. We were running late, as usual, so had to take quick pics. Here are a couple...
As you can see, Bailey wanted no part of it. She was happy to be in the pic last year, but not this year. Too early for her, maybe? ha

I took one of Caitie on her own...

They had 'flagpole' that morning. That's when all the kids, parents, and teachers gather around the flag in the courtyard area and they do the National Anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, announcements, and special activities. This is the first time they did 'flagpole' on the first day of school, but we were late, so we missed it. We were going in when all the parents were leaving. At least I was able to walk Caitie to her classroom. The parents were supposed to stay outside and let their kids go in with their teacher, but since we were late, just as we were last year, her class was already inside, so me and the girls walked in together and I was able to get a quick pic of the girls outside Caitie's classroom. At least that's one good thing about being late on the first day. um, yeah...

I took this pic after school. Caitie's teacher, Mrs. F, gave all of her students a gift bag with a saying on it and some cute items and candy, this pencil was one of the cute items. I like how the colors of the pencil match the colors in Caitie's shirt.
As the pencil says... "2nd Graders are #1!" So true. :)
