As I mentioned in the previous Disney post, we went to Disneyland twice in one week. The first trip was over Memorial Day Weekend, and the second trip was the next weekend, which was the first of June, that's what this post is about. We had reservations for Disneyland's Star Wars Galaxy's Edge Phase One opening. For those that don't know, this is a new area (land) that opened this year at Disneyland; it's been under construction for a few years. It isn't quite finished yet, but they decided to open it anyway and bring on Phase Two in January 2020, when one of the main rides, Rise of the Resistance, will finally be complete.
We were some of the first ones into the new area, which was kinda cool. It's a neat looking area, pretty authentic looking to what is shown in the movies, but it's not my favorite area (land). Michael is more into the Star Wars movies; he really only likes the original Star Wars movie that came out in 1977. The new area has more to do with the newer Star Wars movies that have come out in the last few years, so it wasn't as appealing to him due to that. We were able to be one of the few to get reservations online for the opening; we ended up getting two reservations, which lengthened our stay one day due to when the second opening was available, but we didn't end up using the second reservation, the first reservation was enough for us... ha
Here are some smartphone pics I took (i hardly ever use my dslr camera anymore).
I took the usual 'in front of the hotel sign' pic...

Then I took the usual 'in front of Disneyland' pic...

And the usual 'walking down Main Street' pic...

I also took the usual 'Blue Bayou Restaurant' pic... (I'm a creature of habit... ha)

I took a pic of all of us wearing our 8pm-midnight Star Wars Galaxy's Edge wristbands. Everyone that had a reservation had a four-hour time slot, and they color-coded each four hour period so they could keep up with who belonged in the land and who didn't.

After getting our wristbands we had some time before going into Galaxy's Edge, so we went on one of our favorite rides, Splash Mountain...

Another Splash Mountain pic. We had Max Pass again and this is one of the Disney pics we got with that. Bailey braved being in the front, but paid for it in the end by getting completely soaked. That's her in the front, then her daddy, being crazy by having his phone out to get a quick pic of the ride's camera getting our pic, or somethin' like that... ha He took a chance on getting it wet, or worse, dropping it. Then there's Caitie being whipped in the face by her hair, and then there's me, making a peace sign... so original... ha

Here is Bailey after the Splash Mountain ride. She's taking off her socks so she could wring them out. She didn't care about getting drenched, she wanted to go on the ride again... ha

It was finally time for our four-hour reservation in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge, or as I like to call it, Star Wars Land. We were heading in...

There was a huge crowd going in, so I didn't get the pics I would have usually gotten had there been more room. I just put my phone up high and took this pic...

Here is Bailey with R2D2, and the lion plushie she got the weekend before...

Michael with some droids...

Caitie said the best part about Galaxy's Edge was the porgs (hence the post title). They're creatures in the new Star Wars movies that have come out over the last few years. We got this cute guy, and no, it wasn't imprisoned, it's the carrying case (box) that they put them in when you purchase one at one of the little authentic looking Star Wars shops.

Here it is out of the box.

Bailey had her arms full with holding the lion from the previous Disney trip and holding her new Star Wars "cat thingy" (i don't know the proper name for it), and Caitie holding her favorite souvenir. :)

This pic isn't in the right order, but since it's about the porg, I included it here. Bailey loved her "cat thingy" she got at Galaxy's Edge, but she ended up wanting a porg like Caitie got, so the next day we got her one at the special Star Wars shop in Tomorrow Land. It wasn't from the Galaxy's Edge area, but she didn't care, she just really wanted one. ha

Back to the Galaxy's Edge pics...
It got dark pretty quick. It looked really cool at night.

The pictures don't do it justice, it really is authentic to what is seen in the movies. This is one of the space crafts in the movie, the Millennium Falcon...

We were in line for the one ride they had open, the Smuggler's Run ride...
We finally got on the ride. Bailey and her daddy were the pilots, me and Caitie were the gunners, then there were two more people behind us that were the engineers. It was an immersive ride; Bailey and Michael piloted it, me and Caitie gunned down enemy ships and falling debris, and the two behind us helped capture the cargo from the other ship. It was a pretty fun ride.

This is when we were leaving the ride. Looks cool, right?

Fireworks...

The First Order TIE Echelon spaceship all lit up in blue...

We were in the droid shop. Caitie got to build a droid...

She picked the pieces she wanted to make it with. They were out of the color she wanted, which was black, so she went with her second choice, the white...

She's putting it together at one of the many stations they had available...

They put it in a nice box so she could carry it around easily. It was around midnight, so we had to leave the area...

On our way through the park I decided to get a pic of the Mark Twain ferry...

I got a quick pic of Cinderella's Castle before heading back to the hotel for the night.

We went to the other Disney Park, California Adventure, the next day. I didn't get many pics, but here are a few I took that night. We were eating dinner at the pier; there was a light show on the water going on and I took a couple of pics...

Pixar Pier sign...

More of Pixar Pier...

We went to one of our favorite areas, Cars Land. Caitie and Bailey posing with one of the tractors from the Mater's Junkyard Jamboree ride...

I took a quick pic of Caitie (on the left; she was with me on the ride), and Michael and Bailey in their tractor cart across the way...

The next morning we decided to get breakfast at IHOP. Our second reservation for Galaxy's Edge was that day, but we all decided that we would rather go to the beach than go back to Galaxy's Edge.

We went back to the hotel after breakfast to relax for a bit and then get ready to head to the beach...

The girls bein' silly in the parking lot at the beach...

We saw these huge kites on the beach; the dragon was the girls' favorite...

You can see all the big kites in the background. Michael was videoing me and the girls...

We had been there a while before I got this pic. We hadn't planned on getting all the way in the water this time, but Bailey took a tumble in the water when playing with a new friend she made at the beach, so her daddy gave her his jacket to wear. She didn't have much luck with staying dry on this vacation... getting soaked at Disneyland and then at the beach as well... ha

More beach pics...

Bailey in the back of the SUV; she didn't want to leave the beach...

Her daddy gave her not only his jacket, but his t-shirt as well... it's big, but cute on her. :)

The girls bein' silly and havin' fun while we were packing up and getting ready to leave the beach...
I always get a pic of the beach sign...

Bailey got wet again... but this time she meant to get wet... she had a nice shower back at the hotel...

We left the next morning to head home. We had a good time and can't wait to go back again next May. :)
