Boy, have I missed barbecuin'! Our stainless steel gas grill went kaput quite a few months back. We got it at Costco in June of '05 when I was pregnant with Caitie; it was my birthday present from Michael. It got a lot of use. The day Michael put it out for bulk trash pick-up, I almost cried; I felt so connected to that barbecue grill. Well, recently Michael's mom and dad surprised us with a new one. It was so thoughtful of them to get it for us. It's been getting a lot of use, even with it being cooler out. Food just tastes better when coming from a grill. Here are a few pics...
Here is my little model posing with our new barbecue grill. It's both gas and charcoal; gas on the left side, charcoal on the right. I love it. I've been wanting to try a charcoal grill, and now I'm able to.

The first thing we barbecued were steaks... they turned out yummy! We used the gas side since we didn't have some thingamajig that's needed to heat the coals. Michael finally picked one up at Lowe's; I can't wait to try the charcoal side.

Caitie's helping out. As you can see, it was cool out, but it was warm by the fire.

Have you ever seen corn on the cob catch fire? If not, you can now say you have. That's what's happening in this pic.

We also had zucchini, yellow squash, and onion. I cut them up, then Michael took over from there. He mixed them with some olive oil and seasonings in a ziploc bag, placed them in a cooking tin, then heated them up on the barbecue. One of my favorites! Yum!

The husks were burnt to a crisp, but the kernels survived. Don't ask me why I left the can of beer in the pic. It's not mine; beer is a guy thing.

Caitie's laughin' at the thought of having to finish her plate. There's med-rare steak, rice, tomatoes, charred corn on the cob, zucchini, yellow squash, and onion. Lots of food for a growin' girl. (don't worry, she didn't have med-rare steak, we put small pieces into the microwave to finish cooking; it was safe for her to eat.)

This was the next day; I made hot dogs and bratwursts on the grill for lunch. Caitie couldn't wait; she was a hungry gal.
