Go fly a kite

Not written in a sarcastic sense; I mean literally... go fly a kite. It's a fun, somewhat relaxing, outdoor activity. It was quite windy on the last Friday of March, so we decided to try and fly a small kite we had on hand. At first, for Michael, it would go up and then come straight back down, but when he handed it over to Caitie, she was able to keep it up in the air for a length of time. Interesting how that worked out. Michael eventually got the hang of it and got it as far up in the sky as it would go and kept it there for a decent amount of time. Here are a few pics...

Her daddy is giving instructions on how it's done.

Ready for take-off...

and she's off...

They finally settled on flying it while Caitie sat high on her daddy's shoulders. I didn't think to use my wide-angle lens until the fun was over, so I had to get a pic of them and then the kite... it was waaaaay up in the sky, barely a speck to see with the naked eye. Caitie enjoyed it so we went to Hobby Lobby and got a bigger kite that we plan to try on another windy day; we plan to go to a park next time, which has more space than our backyard.

This is a short video clip of Caitie's excitement with kite flying. (click on 'play' button to view short video clip)
