Hotel Hoppin' Prequel Post

Remember my mentioning our three-hotel hop that lasted a week and a half? If not, go here. This is a prequel to that post; this is how it all started. Michael was putting in wiring for two new TV connections; one for Caitie's room, and one for the kitchen area. He also put wiring in the movie room that will allow TV viewing on the big screen. The first step in the project was to dig a trench in the backyard to place all the pvc pipes in. The pipes contain the wiring; this is to protect the wires from any dirt or water damage. The next step was to measure and cut the pipes to fit in the trench. He then measured the wiring and made sure it reached each connection, the wiring was then put into the pvc pipes, which were then placed in the trench. He had already cut holes in the three locations inside the house, but still needed to cut the outside holes, which was what he did next. Once the wires had been put through the holes and into the house, he put covers over them and added adhesive (liquid nails) to help keep them in place. Where it went wrong was when he added the toxic substance before closing off the inside holes; this is how the fumes got into the house. He obviously didn't mean for it to happen; it was a mistake that most likely happened from being tired and wanting to get the project done. Once he noticed the fumes he opened several windows throughout the house and turned on some oscillating fans to help rid the house of the fumes, but it wasn't enough, so we got out of the house the next morning and eventually decided to stay at a hotel, not knowing we'd end up being away from home for a week and a half; that's how long it took for the fumes to dissipate. He found out there's a two-week cure time for the liquid nails; that's probably why it took so long for the fumes to go away. That about sums up what led to the hotel hoppin'. Here are some pics from the three-day project...

Day one - Michael dug a trench in the backyard for the pvc pipe and wires to go into. Caitie is watching and thinking...

After some thinking, it looks like she came up with a plan on how to make the job easier and faster, and is explaining how to go about it, but the trench was mostly dug by then.

Day two - I didn't get many pics, but decided to put this one for day two. Michael decided to widen the trench. Notice the subtle change in Caitie's attire from day two to day three.

On to day three - Michael is drilling nail holes into a cover that goes over one of the holes he drilled into the house.

He's drilling a hole into the house for the wires to go through.

He's placing a cover over the hole he just drilled.

Michael, like most guys, loves power tools; he just can't get enough of the drillin'. I'm not sure I like how much he enjoys drilling holes into the house.

Holly escaped the house once again. Caitie's good at getting her back inside; here she's hightailing it to the back door.

Michael cut a few branches from a bush at the back of the house in order to get easy access to drill a hole. Caitie decided she wanted to take one of the branches and plant it as a tree.

She loves playin' in the dirt.

She reminds me of ol' Huck Finn here.

And here as well.

While taking pics, I took notice of my reflection in the window, so decided to snap a pic.

The next day we started hotel hoppin'.
