Craziness

A few weeks ago, things were going along as they normally do...

Bein' muddy, silly, and funny... that goes on all the time at our house...

Makin' the backpack a headpack, that's the norm...

until a simple sore throat, feelin' a bit tired, with a low-grade fever, changes all that... What we thought was a simple cold turned out to be strep throat (caitie had it when I took the pic above, we just didn't know it yet). I didn't have a clue until I received an e-mail from the school nurse stating all Kindergarten students needed to look out for the symptoms of strep throat. When I thought of strep throat, I thought it would be described as the most awful sore throat ever, but Caitie just had a minor sore throat, but she did end up with the skin condition impetigo, which comes from having strep throat. She missed a couple of days of school that week. We took her to the doctor where she was prescribed an antibiotic; she is now all better. She's had a couple of colds and now strep throat since the beginning of the school year, and it's not even cold or flu season yet, and I have now received another e-mail from the school nurse letting parents know to look out for scarlet fever symptoms; one of the Kindergarten kids came down with it recently, which also stems from strep throat if it's not treated properly. Homeschooling has been sounding more appealing lately. Here's Caitie with Molly when she was instructed to stay in bed to recover from what we thought was a simple cold at the time, but it turned out to be strep throat. Caitie made Molly a BFF (best friends forever) 'collar'. She appreciated Molly hangin' around her when she was in 'confinement'.

It wasn't long before Caitie was up and better and Molly had a change of heart and wanted out of the 'best friend forever' contract... the girls wore her ragged, poor thing.

And once Caitie was all better... things got back to normal... the craziness continued... and all was well...

until I started noticing tiny bumps on Bailey's legs, hands and feet. We decided to take her to the doctor as well, we took her the Saturday before last, to make sure it wasn't impetigo; we didn't know if she might have caught it from Caitie. It's highly contagious. But it ended up being just a skin irritation. The bumps are pretty much gone now. Bailey has had a couple of colds as well since Caitie started school; I'm glad strep throat wasn't passed on to her. Like her hat? Silly gal.

Since I mentioned how we sometimes get a little crazy around here I thought I would share this pic of Caitie... We watched a show about little girl pageants a while back, and Caitie wanted to dress up like some of the girls were in the pageant. This is what she came up with... She pulled her hair back with a little twist and secured it with a pretty barrette, she kept on the top she had on for the day and added a princess skirt, and since she didn't have slippers to match, she made her own out of paper towels; she drew pretty designs on them and then taped them on to her feet. Pretty clever of her. She also used a cat collar for an ankle bracelet. She has quite the imagination. Clever, but still a little crazy. That's my girl! :)

And last, but not least... here's Bailey showing off her clear skin; this was before the little bumps arrived. She would still show off, with or without bumps, she doesn't care. She loves to be silly... Silly gal.

And since I'm on the subject of craziness... Our household is now filled with craziness again... this time it has to do with me... I recently reported a couple of teachers to the district office about their rude behavior; no names were mentioned, so I'm not sure how it benefited anyone, but I did report them! It's the effort that counts, right? I also took care of the $10 certified letter fee (thanks to all who offered advice) from the HOA. I had previously e-mailed the HOA with no response, so I then took it upon myself to send several e-mails to most everyone on the board, not knowing it had been waived a few days before, I just hadn't been notifed yet; if only I had checked our HOA account before having gone e-mail crazy. Yes, I did this to save us $10. It had nothing to do with the money, it was the principle of the thing. So cliche, and so not the only reason why I did it... just call it hormonal, and I wanted to be right! Hello... *tap, tap* you still there?!?

Yep, there's always some kind of craziness goin' on around here. Hey, it makes life interesting, right... RIGHT?!? um, yeah...
