First Day of First Grade

The summer just flew by, I can't believe it's time for school already...

Caitie started school on Monday. She is officially a first grader now. It got off to a rocky start...

We were late on the first day. Nothing new for us, we're late to most everything. It did allow me to get a pic of her in her classroom; if we had been on time, I wouldn't have been able to. The parents weren't allowed to go in with the children, the children walked into the classroom with their teacher from the courtyard area. Since we were late, I was able to walk her to her classroom. I took a quick pic, which ended up being blurry and it shows Caitie's backside, but at least it's something. The day itself felt strange... I can't explain it really, it just felt a little 'off'. When I went to pick Caitie up from school, it was blazin' hot out... that and the humidity made it most miserable, of which was evident when I saw how distraught Caitiel looked... she ended up in tears due to having a throbbing headache from the walk she had to take from her classroom to the basketball court area, which was near the parking lot I was to pick her up at. She cried all the way home, and continued to do so once we were home. It took her quite a while to cool off and calm down; she ended up taking a nap, which isn't like her, she never naps! The rest of the day just seemed 'off' to me. We never did figure out why it felt that way, but the days since then have returned to 'normal'.

Here are a few pics from the first day...

Caitie and Bailey standing next to the bag of school supplies I was supposed to take to Caitie's class.

The traditional 'standing at the front door on the first day of school' pic. This time with Bailey...

Then one on her own...

A quick pic of Caitie in her classroom.

A quick pic of Bailey after dropping Caitie off at school. She's not too happy about having to say goodbye to her playmate.

This is Caitie after school. It was SO HOT out! Caitie was in tears. The long walk from her classroom to the basketball court area, which is next to the parking lot, just about did her in. She had on a visor she made that day in class, but it didn't help much.

I couldn't even take the usual backyard patio pic, showing her after her first day of school that I normally take, due to it being so hot out. So I took a pic of her inside, which wasn't easy since all she wanted to do was strip down (she did take off her shoes and socks) and drink a gallon of ice cold water and then collapse on the couch. I took this quick pic and she then relaxed and ended up taking a nap, which she never does. It was a rough first day due to the heat.
