Dinosaurs, Elvis, and Fast Flying Jets

Do you like dinosaurs, Elvis, and fast flying jets?  If so, you can see all three in theaters this summer.  You should form your own opinion about a movie, but here is my family's review/ranking of these three movies.

Jurassic World: Dominion - Big Disappointment.  We like the other two movies in this series, and the original Jurassic Park movie series as well, but this movie is definitely a thumbs down for us.

Elvis - If you love Elvis, you might like this movie.  We liked it, but didn't love it.  It was way too choppy for a majority of the movie, going from one scene to the next in hurried succession.  There was bad language, which made me cringe, and there was a scene or two I felt could have been left on the editing room floor, but we did like Austin Butler's portrayal of Elvis, and Tom Hanks portrayal of Colonel Tom Parker.  Austin Butler will probably get an Oscar for his performance as Elvis.  At times we felt like we were actually watching Elvis; he did a great job!  Tom Hanks looked the part of Colonel Tom Parker, but his voice wasn't anything like the actual person he was portraying.  Even so, his voice, which was heard a lot since he was narrating the movie, made his part more interesting.  If you're a big Elvis fan, I would suggest seeing it, if not, you might want to skip this movie.

Top Gun: Maverick - If you like a lot of fighter jet action, this movie is for you.  We really enjoyed it!  The original Top Gun movie that came out in 1986 was a great movie as well.  You might want to watch it first in order to get part of the backstory for Top Gun: Maverick.

Caitie and Bailey liked Top Gun: Maverick the most, then Jurassic World: Dominion, and Elvis came in last for them.  This makes sense since they don't know much about Elvis, but it did hold their interest, as did Jurassic World: Dominion; we all love dinosaurs.  Who doesn't?  ha  But their favorite was Tom Gun: Maverick.

Michael and I feel the same about Top Gun: Maverick, this was our top pick, then the Elvis movie, probably because we know more about Elvis and connected with it more.  Jurassic World: Dominion came in last for us.  We love all the other Jurassic movies, but this one was a big let down.

If you wonder why I don't post much anymore, one of the reasons is because my fabulous fam isn't into the 'stop and pose pics' I used to get from them so freely in the past.  My girls are growing up and have moved on from that, and Michael, well, he's okay with it, but without the girls' cooperation it doesn't really matter.  ha  But I did snap this pic real quick, after having to deal with sighs and giving it their all bare minimum to pose for it (Michael wasn't aware I was taking a pic, hence his not facing me when I took the pic).  I give them a B- for effort.  ha  We were at the Top Gun: Maverick movie in this pic.

One of the most disturbing things for us were the trailers for upcoming movies that are shown before the movie starts.  There wasn't one movie that looked good, and there were a few that looked horrifying!  I can't believe what this world has come to, but I digress.

Have you seen any movies this summer?  If so, do you have a favorite?

Happy Summer Movie Watching!  :)
