Westwood Ranch

We went up to our property over the weekend. It's a 48 acre parcel of land located a few miles east of a small town called Seligman; this is in the northwest part of the state. It's a three to four hour drive, give or take an hour depending on the weather and the condition of the dirt road leading up to the property, which is about sixteen miles long. The area has juniper trees and nice mountain views. During the springtime there's a meadow that is full of beautiful flowers. It snows there a little during the winter, and rains on occasion. This last weekend it was nice but a bit on the warm side during the day, but the early morning and evening hours were really nice. We bought my grandmother's(Nannie's) trailer last year and had it towed up to the property last summer. She wasn't the current owner, but lived in it for many years before moving into a condo back in '94, so it has sentimental value. Unfortunately, the people that lived there at the time of the sale didn't take care of it, so it's in need of repair, inside and out, which will take some time, but should be a fun project. We looked the trailer over while we were there this last weekend and made plans of what needs to be done. Leveling it is #1 on the list right now; it leans to one side, which makes it difficult to keep your balance when walking through it. Then will come the fun stuff... repairs, painting, installing flooring and new kitchen and bathroom sinks and fixtures, etc. The list goes on and on. In the pics below you will see what the area looks like, and also see what the trailer looks like at the present time. The pics above show the entrance to the property. I also took some pics of Michael and Caitie, as well as some cows, a jackrabbit, a train, the evening sky, and a couple of pics inside the SUV on the way home. The first pic is of Michael and Caitie before leaving to go up to the property; the rest of the pics are as I described above, and/or have descriptions above them...

Michael doing the manly thing... BBQing... You won't see me barbecuing, nosiree-bob... and not because it's a manly thing, but because I can't cook, bake, or bbq worth squat. ha

The trailer behind some juniper trees.

We plan to build a boating dock, ummm, I mean a deck, around the trailer. I've been told some people think the trailer looks like a houseboat. As I'm sure you can see in the pic below, the front of the trailer is in need of some cosmetic repair. The siding on the top front was off when we bought it, the dents in the lower front of the trailer occurred when the towtruck was backing the trailer into this spot. The cosmetic repair is one of the last things on the list to be done.

What we'll see when sitting at the kitchen table.

Caitie running through the trailer... keeping her balance very well, I may add. We're not happy about the wood paneling having been painted white by the previous owner. We hope to find wood paneling close to what was in there before, if not, we plan on painting over the white paint with a darker color of maybe green or brown. That's still to be decided.

This is the master bedroom. Take notice of Michael's feet in the pic... we've added bedroom furniture. The BBQing Man needs his rest. ha And Caitie can't get enough of seeing such a beautiful face. Who can blame her?

We were on the dirt road heading out when we spotted this jackrabbit. I wanted to take him home... Have you ever tried to catch a jackrabbit?

Such a sweet, adorable, and yes, dirty face. She loves to play in the dirt.

I wanted to take him home... Have you ever attempted to pick up a cow?

There's a railroad track near the entrance to the dirt road that leads to our property. We love trains.

Yep, you got it... I wanted to take him home...

A full moon... aha, that explains it! (don't ask)

No, we didn't start a fire, this is the sunset.

A beauty, don't you think?

She had a little too much chocolate(meaning caffeine). Let me put it this way... it was a looooong drive home! ha
