More on Father's Day

Here are some pics from our trip to the property over the weekend. As you will see, Caitie was at her Daddy's side most of the time. This is the norm; she's crazy about her dad. They've always had a special bond. I'm not sure how it started other than on the evening she was born, Michael was the first one of the family to hold her. Other family members held her before I did. Guess where I was during that time... knocked out; unconscious; not aware of my surroundings; oblivious to what had just occurred. Even though I contributed to it, I missed the main event. What brought this about was when I started to panic when the doc had to push down really hard on my upper abdomen/chest area in order to get Caitie out and into the world. Maybe I should mention that I had a c-section. Well, that was it for me, one of the nurses plunged a syringe in my arm that was filled with a knock-out drug. I do remember feeling Caitie come out of me and hearing her cry, but that was it until I woke up a while later and finally got to hold her; but by then it was too late, Michael had taken the role as 'the favorite parent'. I'll get him for that one day. ha That did happen, but I doubt it has anything to do with why Caitie is so crazy about him. It's quite simple, really... Michael is sweet, patient, loving, caring, fun, and attentive; Caitie couldn't have asked for a better dad. Thanks, Michael, for being such a great dad. :)

In the first pic below, Caitie is giving her dad his Father's Day gift, which is an Apple iPod touch. This was a little more affordable than what he asked for, which was another LCD Flat Screen TV to go in his office. We have two already, and I think that's enough for our household, thank you very much. But it's still up for discussion. *sigh* I'm so easy. Also pictured below is Caitie and her dad just hangin' out by the ice chest; Caitie is enjoying a cold, juicy peach. In the other pic Caitie is enjoying a midday walk; I decided to take her on a walk to give Michael some time to relax. If you happened to notice... Caitie and her dad were wearing matching shirts. I do this for them every year; it's a tradition now. I get a caricature done of them together and iron it on their shirts; I think it's cute. I don't think Michael feels the same, but he wears the shirt anyway; he's such a good guy(most of the time. ha). :)

Remember my kite flyin' post from a while back? Well, as you can see, I was right... we waited until one of the hottest months to try and fly the kite. It never did soar through the air, but it was fun giving it a try.

We saw lots of cows and calves on our way home yesterday. They're all along the dirt road that leads from our property to the main highway. Caitie asked if she could bring a "baby cow" home, but after trying to get one in the back seat of the SUV, then trying to get it in the storage area of the SUV, and then trying to find some rope to tie it to the tow hitch on the back of the SUV, of which we couldn't find any, we realized it wasn't going to happen, there was nowhere to put the calf, except maybe on top of the SUV, which I just now thought of. Darn! Why didn't I think of that yesterday? Anyway, we finally had to tell her that she couldn't bring one home. She and I both cried, but I think my crying came more from seeing her cry, because I then knew it was going to be another loooong drive home. It wasn't too bad though... thank goodness for portable DVD players and The Pink Panther. That kept her entertained for quite a while. (you know I'm kidding about the attempted baby cow abduction, right? ha)

A family portrait.

"Always remember to clean behind your ears, dear."

Mama cow posing with her baby calf. So sweet.

You know I always have to throw in a sunset pic . This was taken on our way up to the property. We pulled over to stretch our legs at a truck stop in Cordes Junction. There was a nice breeze, it was beginning to cool down, and Caitie found lots of rocks to play with... so you can guess how difficult it was getting her back in the SUV and on the road again; it was no easy task, let me tell ya. But I must admit, I wasn't ready to leave either. I love breezy, cool evenings in the summertime...
