School pics are like driver's license pics...

in that they always come out lousy, goofy, or atrocious (this would be mine; not that the fault lies totally with the DMV photographer, but i digress). This leads me to the subject of this post... We received Caitie's school pics the week before last...

Caitie had her school portrait and class picture taken during the second week of school, which was back in August. She was getting over a cold at the time. Keep that in mind when viewing the first two pics below.

After viewing some of the pics I've taken of Caitie over the years, some people have commented on how good a 'model' Caitie is; that she poses well, etc. This didn't carry over into other photographers getting her pic... she has what I call a 'fake smile' in this pic, and she either winked at the photographer, or had some kind of nervous tic or twitch goin' on with her left eye. On top of that, one could never tell I curled her hair the night before, her hair fell flat. And as far as her skin tone... well, let's not go there. Not that she isn't beautiful, she is, but this pic is way too 'fake' for me, but I'll still display it proudly in our picture area; it is her first school pic, after all.

Here's Caitie's class picture. She's in the second row, first one on the left... the one fading out due to her fair skin and all the light pink I had her wear. I think I learned my lesson as far as her wearing light-colored clothing for future class pictures. I 'erased' her classmates' and teachers' last names, and the name of her school, in this pic; one can never be too cautious when it comes to the Internet, especially a blog.

I took this pic of Caitie on the same day as her school pics were taken; I thought I would include it so you can see that she has normal skin tone and that she is able to keep both eyes open when getting her pic taken. Not to be mean, but one might think she was on drugs on school picture day by the way she did her eyes in the first two pics above. Did I just write that? ummm... yep, I sure did. I can be cruel like that.
