Kids say (and do) the darndest things

When I picked Caitie up from school last Friday I asked her about her day, as I usually do, and this time she told me of how she became the 'king, or in this case, queen of the playground'... my words. It's the way I pictured her story. Here is what she told me: "When lining up to go out to the playground today the teachers asked that there be no talking, but all the kids talked but me. When we got to the playground Ms. Tammy asked me what should be done with all the kids that talked in line, I told her they should sit out." And that's just what they did. Caitie proceeded onto the playground to play while all the other kids in her class stood on the pavement in line and watched her play. Some of the kids started to talk again so the teachers made them march around the playground in a single line until they all became quiet... all the while Caitie played on the playground. Yepsiree, that's what she did. I was proud of her for not talking in line, but I did wonder why she would want all the kids to 'sit out' which left her no one to play with; she always prefers to have playmates, she doesn't like playing alone, which made it all the more surprising that she made that suggestion. I didn't know if she might lose a friend or two as well. She said Ramone, one of the little boys in her class, stared at her the whole time then later told her that he wasn't her friend anymore, he was now William's friend. By Monday they were best buds again. Gotta love how a child's mind works.

The teachers love having Caitie in their class; they tell me this often. They say she behaves and gets along with everyone (that was before the above. ha), and is sweet and nice. All the things a parent loves to hear. Ms. Renae has told me a few times how she finds Caitie's 'stories' cute and funny, even if they are a bit off the wall at times. She said Caitie has quite an imagination. And that she does; she loves to make up characters and tell stories about them.

Here she is after school last Friday, running around without a care in the world. The kids in her class were probably still fuming about being told to 'sit out' while on the playground, but at the same time they probably made note to not mess with the little, golden-blonde haired girl that seemed so sweet before then. ha

Being goofy with her li'l sis.

Even though this post is about Caitie's day at school, I couldn't resist including this cute pic of Bailey. Hand on her cheek, sour face; sweet and funny at the same time.
