The Most Beautiful Garden

My maternal grandmother, affectionately known as Mema, went to be with the Lord this morning; she was 92 years old. She lived a long life. Looking back I find that some of my fondest memories of her was when she would visit (from arkansas) and stay with my family for a few weeks while my grandpa, her husband, would go hunting; usually during the month of November. She did this for a few years during my youth. I remember her wonderful cooking, the fun times we had playing poker, and the funny stories she would tell... some her own, and some from the Reader's Digest. I loved her laugh, it was contagious. I also remember the many nights she and my mom would stay up late playing rummy and bible trivia games. She was a beautiful woman, just like my mom... she took really good care of her skin, and passed that on to my mom, of which my mom passed it on to me; I'm not sure what happened along the way, but it just didn't stick with me. :) My grandmother had a beautiful house that she loved to take care of; she lived in it for most of her adult life. She loved working in her yard (she had a beautiful yard/flower garden), reading books, going to church, playing dominoes with her friends, and having a good time playing poker with her family and friends. In her later years she wasn't able to get around so easily, so she wasn't able to work in her yard or get out much, and she lost most of her vision, and her hearing. This was hard for her since she loved books so much, and couldn't read books or listen to audio books either... but she kept on keeping on, she didn't let those things get her down. She had a full life, and is now in heaven with Jesus. She will be missed, but we will see her again one day, along with my dad, my other grandmother (Nannie), and many other family members.

We love you, Mema, and look forward to seeing you again one day...

John 14:2-3
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

(along with having a beautiful mansion, i have no doubt that she will have one of the most beautiful gardens in heaven. :) )
