Little Boys and Trains
We went to one of Caitie's favorite bookstores the other night. She loves this particular Barnes & Noble Bookstore, it has a train set to play with in the children's section. She also likes the stage area. She had just started playing with the trains when a little boy and his mother came over. The little boy, named DJ, took over the train table. He didn't want to share with Caitie, even though she was there first. His mother tried to get him to cooperate and share with Caitie, but he didn't want to; his dad came by and even tried to persuade him to share, but he refused. Caitie didn't help matters when she kept calling him "baby". She calls all kids younger, same age, or slightly older than her "baby". Anyway, he didn't like it and got mad and was rude to Caitie, but throughout the whole ordeal, Caitie was a little angel, she handed him train cars, and told him "it's ok, baby, don't be mad", which only seemed to add fuel to the fire. ha I finally took Caitie to the other side of the children's book section where there is a little stage area. She likes to play on the stage and in the chairs and benches surrounding it. After a while, the little boy came over there as well and started pestering Caitie again, but she just kept waving and smiling at him. His mother didn't have much control over him, it seemed; I felt bad for her. Instead of letting it get out of hand again, I asked Caitie if she wanted to go back over to the train set to play again, since the little boy was done with it, and she said yes. We started to walk over there when the little boy asked us to wait up, he wanted to come with us instead of go with his mother. But his mother finally got his attention by saying she was leaving and said bye, that was all it took to get him to run after her. Caitie was a little lady through it all, I'm happy to say. It isn't always that way, but when it is, I like to report it. ha
