A day at the farm

We went to Tolmachoff Farms this past weekend. We had a rip-roarin' (is this expression used anymore?) good time. Even though it's fall, the hot days aren't behind us; it was pretty darn warm when down at the ol' farm. There was a shade tree or two, but other than that, we were pretty much exposed to the warm sun. We did have the good sense to wear hats, which kept our faces from bakin', but arms and legs were soakin' in the sun's scorchin' rays; some tan lines were formed that day. Anyhoo... here is a pic or two, or actually quite a few, for you to view. (yes, i'm back to rhymin'. oh joy)

I took this pic when we arrived; this was where picked pumpkins were on display to look at and to buy; this was also a photo op area. I wanted to get a pic or two of Caitie and Bailey with the hay and pumpkins, so I sat my gals down in the first place I saw that wasn't already being used by others for the same reason; I took a few quick pics and hoped for the best. Here is one that came out halfway decent.

Caitie saw this pumpkin and knew she had to have it.

This was another photo op area.

A closer view.

Caitie had her eye on the slide...

Caitie doesn't usually walk at a slant (that's how she appears to me in this pic), she had just gone down the slide and was heading back to go down it again for the 56th time, or so it seemed.

We then headed over to the petting zoo section. Caitie found a furry (are horses considered furry?) friend. A cute blonde-haired boy and his little brother watched as Caitie began talking to the horse; she is now known as the youngest horse whisperer. Please tell me you know what I mean; there was a show about that, wasn't there? (don't worry, we haven't let caitie get a tattoo, that's a stamp on her arm; everyone that entered the farm got a stamp in case there was a need to leave and then re-enter the farm.)

She can't believe what the horse just said... or is it thought? I'm clueless when it comes to the 'horse whisperer' jargon. Horses can talk, right? (i'm thinkin' mr. ed here. maybe i've gone too far with this? ummm, yeah...)

I snapped a pic of Bailey. We brought her stroller, but her daddy carried her everywhere. I offered to hold her when I took a break from taking pics, but that wasn't too often, as I'm sure you're figuring out as you keep having to scroll down to see pic after pic after pic after pic after pic... well, you get the idea. From now on I'll probably limit how many pics I take when we're on outings, I feel I miss out on some things when I have the camera in front of my face a majority of the time; I would like to have held Bailey more, and I feel I keep the flow of how the day could go by sometimes asking Caitie to stop and pose.

Isn't she cute in the white eyelet hat?

Here's the ol' pumpkin patch; well, it wasn't a real pumpkin patch in that it had pumpkins, but none were stuck to a vine, they were just sitting in the grassy area. Hey, we'll take what we can get; our pumpkin patch has yet to produce a pumpkin.

We then went through a ten-minute corn maze. We love a good corn maze. There was another corn maze, but it took 45 minutes to an hour to get through, so we opted for the shorter one; mostly because it was so flippin' hot out. Here Caitie's peeking around the corner, waiting for us to catch up.

I snapped another pic of Bailey while we were going through the corn maze. You can tell she's thrilled about the whole experience.

Caitie's still leading the way...

Just so you know, we did make it out; but you knew that already, didn't you? How else would this post have gotten here? Well, I could be using Michael's Droid cell phone... so maybe we're still there... I mean here... somethin' like that.

I got a close-up of one of the pumpkins in the so-called pumpkin patch. I went back there in order to get a pic of Caitie on the kiddie train; those pics are below...

This is Caitie's second ride on the train. I asked her to wave at me as she went by... she obliged.

It was a cute little ladybug train.

She was dressed for it... overalls and a train hat.

Here's my favorite horse... not! Caitie enjoyed petting the horses, so we went back and let her pet them again. I wanted to get close to get a good shot of Caitie petting him... the horse decided at that moment to clear his nasal passages, which he passed on to me... on my hands, arms, shirt, and my camera lens. Lovely. The rest of the pics from here on out may show horse snot; I'm sure you're glad I mentioned that.

I did get a pic of her petting him; I don't hold grudges.

It wasn't too long after this that we decided it was time to head out; the heat was getting to us, and we longed for a Blizzard. Yes, we're addicted to Dairy Queen Blizzards. But before leaving, we let Caitie look at more animals... here is a cute chick. Caitie wouldn't pick one up, I had to get it for her, but once she had it in her hands, she was in love. She now wants a horse a chick, and...

a piglet. Yes, she now wants a piglet too. She wouldn't pick them up either, but I did, and let me tell ya... those things can squeal!

When leaving the area, we noticed this cute pony. We hadn't noticed him before. There should have been more signs posted to make it known that they were offering pony rides. Caitie decided to give it a try.

So cute.

She's a natural.

I didn't want you to think I forgot about Bailey, I took another pic of her when we got to the truck. She woke up just as we were leaving; she slept through most everything while at the farm.

"What's goin' on? What did I miss? Did I have fun?"
